Five Things Your Four Year Old Needs to Know

Posted by Karen Schaefer Fecarotta

It’s hard to deny that we live in a world that is rushed.  We are always on: texts, social media, emails, friends, family, work, home, kids and don’t forget the laundry!  Our society does not embracing rest.  Who hasn’t tried to do it all?  You know who, a four year old!  Children take their time; everything is new and they pause and rest in the moment.  As a homeschooler, it is easy to get caught up in comparing our children to others and try to keep up, but we ought not to.  And most of all, we ought to let our children enjoy their childhood and bask in the wonder of God’s world.  I stumbled across this article years ago and have kept it bookmarked because it is a reminder to allow children to be children.  There is very little in the academic sense that young children need to know.  But are there are five points that each child should be sure of.  I would, however, add a sixth:  They are worthy of Jesus’ blood and are wonderfully created by God for a purpose, which makes them irreplaceable and precious.
